Private, anonymous, or offshore domains: what to buy

A .RU or .SU name gives your project its own address without putting your personal details into registration. At xUID, .RU starts at $50/year and .SU at $75/year. You sign up with an email address and password, then choose the identity and protection for your domain.

“Private,” “anonymous,” and “offshore” describe different parts of that purchase. Knowing what each includes makes it easier to choose the service you want.

Private registration

Choose private domain registration when you want to keep your personal details out of the name’s registration. Your project gets a public address while the supplied identity sits behind it.

ICANN distinguishes privacy and proxy services by whether the customer or the service provider is the registrant of record. That terminology is useful when comparing offers, although the arrangement for the specific extension and provider remains the one you need to understand.

At xUID, Base uses a shared registration identity. Private Identity gives your account a dedicated registrant identity. You choose it before placing the registration order.

Anonymous signup

Anonymous domain signup needs an email address and password. We don’t ask for your personal name, address, phone number, or ID documents, and you don’t complete ESIA verification yourself.

Keep access to the email address you use. It is still your account contact even when the domain registration uses a supplied identity. You can pay through the available cryptocurrency options or use your xUID balance.

An offshore address for the project

For an offshore address, choose between .RU’s Russian identity and .SU’s Soviet-era name. Point either to your existing hosting or add a separate hosting service through xUID.

.RU registration costs $50/year; .SU costs $75/year. Private Identity adds $500 for .RU or $750 for .SU at registration. Renewal pricing is separate, so include it when comparing the cost of keeping the name.

If you like the name in both extensions, check both while you’re searching. A matching pair can make sense for a business that wants to keep its domain choices together.

When to add Bulletproof Protection

Full Bulletproof Protection is an optional $8,000 add-on for either extension. It includes an exclusive identity and priority support. xUID handles abuse reports and complaints so the domain stays online within the service agreement.

For a personal project, Base may cover the registration arrangement you need. Choose Private Identity when you want a dedicated registrant identity for the account. If complaint handling is part of your requirement, compare Full Bulletproof before registration and review the complete order price.

Search for your .RU or .SU name and use the protection comparison to choose the identity and support that belong with it.
